Andre - the youngest crew member: I am honored to be apart of such an incredible experience. This is my first trip overseas and to do it sailing on a drua is unimaginable - how many people can say that they traveled overseas in a traditional canoe. I had a few problems at the beginning of this voyage, I felt a little sea sick and love sick (laughs) but I managed to overcome it. So far it has being incredible and I couldn’t be happier.
Mausio – eldest rew member: I am very honored to have been given this opportunity to sail on a traditionally built canoe across the Pacific. Follow the routes of our ancestors through the use of the stars as our guide and judging the winds and the currents. To also be the oldest crew member on board is challenging because you have to be in tune with the younger crew and that has been a little tough but I have been managing and they motivate me to do better. Faiakesia e hanisi, ma hanisi ’on Gargaj Aitu la ma is atakoa.
